Pre & Post Injectable Do’s and Don’ts

Cosmetic Patients Please Read Pre Treatment Care Instructions

*Do Not Stop any Medical Medication for Any Medical Condition Before checking with your Prescribing Physician.

Before You Arrive for Your Same Day Appointment

 

Do not work out before you come in for injections! Your blood vessels will be dilated due to extra heat. This will increase your chance of bruising. You may resume to your normal routine and work outs the next day.

PLEASE arrive 30 minutes earlier for topical numbing cream application and photos. (this will help reduce waiting time)

If possible PLEASE arrive with a clean face, without make up. (we understand if you are coming from work)

Please have your hair pulled or clipped back and have as much hair away from your face as possible.

If you are about to be injected and your photos were not taken, Please let us know.

BEFORE Your Injections Do Start Taking Herbals that Reduce Swelling and Bruising:

* ARNICA MONTANA is a natural homeopathic supplement that helps reduce bruising, swelling and soreness.

Start taking Arnica Montana 2 days prior to appointment and up to 1 week after (you can purchase at any pharmacy or vitamin store)
Increase foods rich in Vitamin K- leafy greens (kale, collards, and spinach), cauliflower and liver.

To Help Reduce the Chance of Bruising – We Recommend to Stop the Following:

    • Alcohol (2 weeks preferred -1 week should be eliminated completely)
    • Aspirin (or aspirin related products)
    • NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) Advil, Aleve, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Anaprox, Vitamin E, Fish Oils, Omega 3 & 6
    • Herbal supplements such as Garlic, Gingko, Ginseng, and Ginger

(The effects of all these products can stay in your system up to 2 weeks)

FOR HEALING (Can take these supplements both before and after injections)

  • Vitamin K strengthens blood vessel walls so it makes you less prone to bruising. It has been proven to cut healing time in half.
  • Vitamin C supports the collagen around your blood vessels and helps battle bruises.
  • Zinc is important for wound healing and skin repair.
  • ORAL DOSAGE
  • Vitamin C 500-1000 milligrams
  • Vitamin K 80 micrograms
  • Zinc 15 milligrams

TOPICAL Application Products to use IF you should bruise

  • Vitamin K 1% Clarifying Cream
  • Arnica Montana Gel

LASER HAIR REMOVAL PATIENTS

*Make sure you shave the area to be treated BEFORE your appointment!
(This can be either the morning of your appointment or the day before)

  • Do Not tan, be tan or still have a tan Before a laser hair removal treatment.
  • Do Not use sunless tanning products 7 days prior to treatment.
  • Do Not wax, tweeze or use depilatories before treatments and in between treatments your appointments. Shave ONLY
  • Stop using any form of Retinol, Retin A, glycolic, salicylic or lactic acid on your skin 3- 5 days before treatment.
  • If you use or have used Accutane within the last 6 month you CANNOT have treatment.
  • If you are prone to cold sores, please let us know so we can prescribe Valtrex.

Chemical Peel or Facial Laser Patients:

  • Stop using any form of Retinol, Retin A, glycolic, salicylic or lactic acid on your skin 2 days before treatment.
  • Do Not resume these products until 2 days after laser. Chemical Peels patients can resume after they have completely peeled.
  • If you are prone to cold sores, please let us know so we can prescribe Valtrex.
